MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: September 10, 1991 SUBJECT: APPROVE Project Contingency Fund increase of$17,800 and Contract Change Orders Nos. 4 and 5 for the Ironhorse Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail, Project No. 7891-6X5560-89 Specific Request(s)or Recommendation(s)&Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Project Contingency Fund Increase of $17,800 and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute the Contract Change Order Nos. 4 and 5 in the approximated amounts of $10,800 and $2,000 respectively, to compensate H.B. Company for increases in contract item costs. II. Financial Impact: The project contingecy funds are currently insufficient to cover these change order costs. The increase in contingency funds will be funded by Federal Aid and the County. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Two contract item quantities needed to be increased to conform with quantities derived from the plans and constructed in the field. Board approval is required because these change orders and previously approved change orders exceed $25,000. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would preclude payment to the contractor for work required to complete this project. Continued on attachment: _yes SIGNATURE.
