BOX 2390 SACRAMENTO 95811 RECEIVED DEC 12 1983 P' CLER -, Mt,.A_Dnputv ERVISORS O.B Attention: Official Responsible for Obtaining Park and Recreation Financial Assistance The deadline for filing applications for Land and Water Conservation Funds that will be available during the 1983/84 Fiscal Year is April 15, 1984. (Applications must be postmarked no later than this date.) Although the deadline is four months away, you are encouraged to prepare and submit your applications early to permit us time to check them for completeness. Technically complete applications submitted by the deadline will be eligible for "bonus points" in the competitive ranking system. Applications submitted by the deadline which are only "substantially" complete will be considered but must be made technically complete by the time the projects are selected by the State for funding, usually a few weeks after the deadline. Applications received after the deadline will not be evaluated or considered for funding. The one factor that usually prevents most applicants from being technically complete is A-95 clearance. Since this procedure can take up to 60 days to complete, you should immediately, upon receipt of this letter, initiate the State and Areawide Clearinghouse process. An application package, including required forms and materials, may be obtained by contacting the Federal Grants Section, Department of Parks and Recreation, P.O. Box 2390, Sacramento, California 95811, or by calling (916) 445-4441. Sincerely, Win. S. Briner Director ..,Q-'"✓Gl 1 Gum • / . ly- - , 38''
