IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Declaring )
August 10, 1991 as BARBARA ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 496
CONNORS DAY in Contra Costa )
County )
After 20 years of dedicated service to the Pleasant Hill
Soroptimists, Barbara Connors is being honored as a Life Member.
Barbara' s involvement in the Pleasant Hill community is extensive.
She has been the source of inspiration on many projects including
singing to residents of convalescent hospitals during the holiday
season; and serving as Chairwoman of the Youth Citizenship Awards,
the TAP Scholarship Awards, and the Holiday Fair. She also served
as President of the chapter during 1984-85. In memory of members
who have passed away, she coordinated the installation of the
billboard of events at the Pleasant Hill Recreation Center, and is
responsible for a park bench at the Pleasant Hill Park. She also
spearheaded the project to plant memorial trees within the Pleasant
Hill park system.
Barbara is held in the highest esteem by her fellow members. She
is known as "one hell of a worker"--always the first to arrive and
the last to leave. She can often be found in the kitchen, cooking
or doing dishes, during events. Her tireless efforts have been
beneficial to the success of the Pleasant Hill Soroptimists, and we
thank and commend her for her years of service to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
declares August 10, 1991 as BARBARA CONNORS DAY in Contra Costa
County in recognition of her becoming a Life Member of the Pleasant
Hill Soroptimists.
