Direct the County Administrator to work with the City of Martinez, local medical and veterans groups and the:" County' s business community to prepare a study documenting the economic and health impacts closure of the hospital might have on the County. 2. Prepare letters to the California Congressional delegation and the Veterans Administration declaring Contra Costa County' s strong objections to the hospital ' s closure . BACKGROUND: Rumors and articles have surfaced to the effect that the Veterans Administration plans to move the Martinez Veterans Administration Medical Center to a site in Scaramento County. After much hard work, the Martinez Veterans Administration Medical Center was constructed in Martinez and opened in 1963 . Its presence has been a great benefit both to the veterans of the Bay Area and to the economy of Contra Costa County. The Veterans Hospital is the largest employer in the County.
