SUBJECT: Approving Plans and Specifications for Sunset Road Vertical Realignment, Brentwood
Area

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE the Plans and Specifications for the Project and ADVERTISE for bids to be received
on Thursday, September- 12, 1991 at 2:00 p.m.
DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to publish the Notice to Contractors in accordance with Section
20392 of the Public Contract Code.
DETERMINE that the project is a California Environmental Quality Act Class 1c Categorical
Exemption.
DIRECT the Director of Community Development to-file a Notice of Exemption with the County
Clerk.
DIRECT the Public Works Director to arrange for payment of the $25.00 handling fee to the
County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption.
AUTHORIZE the closure of Sunset Road to through traffic between Sellers Avenue and Eden
Plains Road for approximately three weeks with the exception of emergency vehicles and local
residential traffic.
II. Financial Impact:
The estimated contract cost of the project is $87,000, funded by Road Funds (100%).

III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
The project is needed to increase traffic safety by providing greater stopping sight distance.
The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from
CEQA because the project will not have a significant effect on the environment.
The Public Works Director has filed with the Board of Supervisors the Plans and Specifications
for the project.
The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall- be the minimum rates paid on this project,
have been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be made available to any interested
party upon request.
IV. Consequences_of Negative Action:
If the project is not approved for advertising, it will not be constructed.
