MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: AUGUST 13, 1991 SUBJECT: UNDER FAA AIP PROJECT NO. 3-06-0050-06 AUTHORIZE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS SPECIFIC REQUES7'(S)OR RF.COMMEND)MON(S)&BACKGROUND AND IU,13'MCATION I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE Public Works Director to advertise for bids for Airport Improvements at Buchanan Field Airport. Bids are to be opened September 13, 1991. II. Financial Impact: Estimated cost of this project is $634,400 of which 90% will be funded by the Federal Aviation Administration. The local share is estimated to be $63,440 which will be paid for out of the Airport Enterprise Fund utilizing a portion of a loan from the California Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: This project consists of the following work: • Runway 1L-19R High Intensity Runway Lighting System (HIRL) • Install Taxiway "B" Medium Intensity Taxiway Lighting System (MITL) • Install Taxiway "C" Medium Intensity Taxiway Lighting System (MITL) • Electrical Distribution and Regulator Room Renovation • Apron Flood Lighting Improvements • Install Engine Generator o Install Airfield Guidance and Mandatory Signs • Battery Storage Room Construction The DBE requirements for this project is 11%.
