Rydingsword, Director \' Costa Social Service Department County n py DATE: September 6, 1990 Co ` SUBJECT: Authorize the Office on Aging to Let Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 003 SPECIFIC REGUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION• Authorize the Office on Aging to let Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 003 for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program for the term of January 1 - June 30, 1991 in the amount of $36, 902 . The RFP will be in compliance with the County Administrator's Minority and Women Business` Enterprise Program Policies. FINANCIAL IMPACT 100% State and Federal funds. These funds are included in the Social Service 1990-91 budget. BACKGROUND The State Office of Long Term Care Ombudsman requires the Office on Aging to go to bid for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. In July-August, the Office on Aging conducted a pre-bid survey to determine if a sole-source provider existed. Two interested parties responded. Therefore, the Office on Aging is requesting Board of Supervisors approval to initiate the RFP process. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program provides mediation and conciliation services for long term care residents and patients, establishes family councils, and investigates reports of abuse regarding dependent adult residents of long term care facilities.
