HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09181990 - 2.6 a. 6 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on September 18 , 1990 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: Supervisor Fanden ABSENT: Supervisor Schroder ABSTAIN: None ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBJECT: Marsh Canyon Development Agreement Referendum The Board on September 11, 1990 deferred decision to this date on the referendum petition against Ordinance 90-49, the Marsh Canyon Development Agreement. Victor J. Westman, County Counsel, advised that pursuant to Elections Code Section 3754 the Board was required to take one of three alternative actions: 1) Repeal Ordinance 90-49; 2 ) Call a special Countywide election; or 3 ) Submit it to the voters at the next regularly scheduled Countywide election which will occur in June 1992. Wilbert E. Cossel, 16711 Marsh Creek Road, Clayton, urged the Board to rescind the ordinance and allow the electorate to make the decision on the Marsh Canyon site. Brian Kruse, 18201 Marsh Creek, Brentwood, urged the Board to rescind the ordinance. Supervisor Tom Torlakson referred to the County' s waste export agreement with Alameda County and the attempt to reach agreement on an export agreement with San Jose. He noted that the neighboring counties and cities required evidence of Contra Costa' s progress in siting a landfill. He recommended that the Board defer decision on the referendum until after the November 6, 1990 election.
