MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: SEPTEMBER 18, 1990 SUBJECT: APPROVE SECOND AMENDMENT TO LICENSE FOR THE SAN RAMON VALLEY (IRON HORSE) TRAIL SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE the Second Amendment to the License with East Bay Regional Park District extending the limits of the San Ramon Valley (Iron Horse) Trail. II. Financial Impact: None. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: On October 14, 1986, the County entered into a License with East Bay Regional Park District allowing the District to establish and maintain a riding and hiking trail within the former Southern Pacific Railroad right of way between Stone Valley Road in Alamo and Linda Mesa Avenue in Danville. The License allows extension of the original limits as additional trail facilities are completed. The Second Amendment is necessary to extend the limits of the trail. Construction of the trail is consistent with existing County policy providing for public use of the right of way and does not conflict with the development of a future transit corridor in the right of way.
