SUBJECT: Hearing on Fee Increase for the County Clerk
The Board on July 10 , 1990 continued to this day the hearing
on the proposed fee increase for the County Clerk-Recorder. No
one appeared to speak at the hearing this day.
Therefore , the hearing was closed and Resolution 90/561
adopted.

SUBJECT: RECOVERY OF COSTS OF PROVIDING VARIOUS COUNTY CLERK
SERVICES
WHEREAS the County Clerk is authorized to levy a fee for
services pursuant to Government Code 26820 . 4 and 1134 (CCP) ,
WHEREAS a study performed by Northern California Research
Associates has identified that the cost of providing those services
exceeds the current fee for said services,
WHEREAS Government Code 54985-7 authorizes a county board of
supervisors to increase or decrease any fee or charge, which is
otherwise authorized to be levied by another provision of law, in
the amount reasonably necessary to recover the cost of providing
any product or service, and a public hearing has been noticed and
held regarding the proposed increase of certain County Clerk fees,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that the following
fees are established effective :Se.pt6mber 15,--1990 .
1. Marriage License: Increase the fee from $35 .00 to $59. 00.
(County portion is increased from $9 . 00 to $33 .00) .
2. Confidential Marriage Authorizations: Increase the fee from
$41.00 to $66. 00. (County portion is increased from $13 . 00 to
$38. 00) .
3 . Fictitious Business Names: Increase the filing fee from
$10 . 00 to $15. 00 . Establish second name filing fees at $5 . 00,
withdrawals and abandonments also at $15.00 .
4. Passports: Add a handling and postage charge of $14 . 00 to
the $7 . 00 fee per passport application, bringing the charge
from $42. 00 to $56. 00 per application.
5. Marriage Ceremonies: Increase the fee per marriage ceremony
from $15. 00 to $29. 00.
