Accept report by County Administrator recommending authorization be given to execute a contract with the Contra Costa County Historical Society to prepare and process documents to place the County Court House on the National Register of Historic Places. 2. Authorize releasing monies from park dedication accounts for said contract. BACKGROUND: On May 1, 1990, the Board of Supervisors referred to the County Administrator the matter of placing the County Court House as a nominee for the National Register of Historic Places. Subsequent to that referral, the Contra Costa County Historical Society was asked to provide a bid on preparing and processing the necessary documents. A copy of their proposal is attached. This is the same process followed to place the Old Jail ( 1904 Edition) and Finance Building on the National Register of Historic Places. The Court House with its architectural qualities and construction are a reflection of workmanship from Contra Costa County, is deserving of a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Martinez has been county seat since 1850- 2. Architectural style of present court house 3. Materials and workmanship almost entirely from Contra Costa County factories , mills and brick works.
