MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: August 14, 1990 SUBJECT: APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 1, for the San Pablo Dam Road Slide Repair Project. Project No. 0671-6T6774-86, San Pablo Reservoir Area. Specific Baquest(s)or Recommendations)&Background&Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute Contract Change Order No. 1, in the approximate amount of $34,000.00 to compensate the contractor, O.C. Jones & Sons, for unforeseen extra work. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Because the cumulative total of this change order exceeds $25,000.00, Board APPROVAL is required. The project is funded 100% by the Federal Highway Administration and is a part of the 1986 Storm Drain restoration. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: During excavation,the slide reactivated requiring significant redesign and remedial action. This change order provides the contractor with compensation for that work. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of APPROVAL would preclude payment to the contractor for work accomplished.
