A good portion of the companies do not balance and I must figure out why. There Z may have been a corrected bill and t :ey submitted the original c, bill, or possibly a transposition, or maybe the machine managed to throw out a strange figure. Sometimes it is all of these r+ � things, and more, so it can be very co:rplicated.. For example : 0JL4 A company sent a large group of bills and a check, when adding ( � these bills, I found the check to be more. I began, to check 4-30 their tape against mine, they agreed. I then began checking o Rar_i • their parcel numbers on their list with those on the bills and discovered a parcel number on the list that had no corresponding zH� •cri bill. I looked up the bill and found the figure to be that which O 'd I was out of balance. I do this with the use of the microfiche film, previous correspondence, calling the Assessors Office for infor- mation, delinquent tax records and the correction runs. fling - I file master keypunch cards and maintain the file in good order. Mailing - I mail tax bills, ,information cards, and receipts, research and remail bills. Supervise and Train - I teach new and temporary help to open mail, how to spot potential problems, to run the si?:aplex machines., file masters, make duplicate bills, photograph, change film, look 'up material on the viewer and run the adding machine. I contact the title companies for more information, or adr3itinnal mnnpy- What decisions must be made in performing the work: I must decide what the priorties are in the beck room, such as opening the mail, pulling bills, photographing the checks so they can get to the bank on time, I have to see that all of these things are covered all the tine . What parts of the job require the greatest skill, knowledge,and involve the greatest responsibility balancing payments for the larger companies They often make many errors of various kinds. This can become very complex, and I sometimes feel I must read their minds to deterTnine what they have done and what/they mean to do.
