From: Danville Police Department Subject:
The Town Council and Town Manager, George Sipel, have approved
changing our felony crime investigations mode to an "in house"
system similar to San Ramon. (See attached April 25 letter) .
The Danville plan is to remove Sergeant Rich Woolard from the
graveyard patrol supervisory position and assign him to
Investigations as well as supervising responsibility for the Youth
and Crime Prevention efforts.
Additionally, he will be available for administrative and staff
support. Our intent further is to back fill for Sergeant Woolard
in patrol by adding a fourth sergeant to our contract.
Initially, as in San Ramon, Sergeant Woolard will investigate all
felony crimes except homicide, sex crimes, and checks. Those cases
will still be forwarded to Investigation Division for follow-up.
We are hopeful to begin operation in this mode on October 1, 1989 .
I will work closely with Captain Pitkin to insure a smooth
transition. Additionally, by way of this memorandum, I will ask
Tom Young and Rob Henderson to amend the contract by adding the
fourth sergeant and ask for the selection process to begin as soon
as possible.
