Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE the Plans and Specifications for the Christen Drive Bridge Replacement Project and ADVERTISE for bids to be received Thursday, September 28, 1989 at 2: 00 p.m. DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to publish the Notice • to Contractors. in accordance with Section 20392 of the Public Contract Code, and DIRECT the Director of Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated contract cost of the project is $155, 000. It is to be funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Program (80%) and the City of Pleasant Hill (20%) . The County provided the local share of the design engineering and will administer the contract. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The Public Works Director has filed with the Board of Supervisors the Plans and Specifications for the Christen Drive Bridge Replacement Project. The Plans and Specifications provide for the closure of Christen Drive to all traffic at the Contra Costa Canal for approximately 10 weeks. The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be made available to any interested party upon request. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan. It has been determined that this project is exempt from CEQA requirements as a Class 2 Categorical Exemption. The project involves removing an existing bridge and constructing a new bridge in the same location. No right of way acquisition is required. No increase in traffic will occur as a result of the project. The Board hereby concurs in said determination.
