Therefore BE IT RESOLVED that said side letter is approved by the Board. Cisterman ” Director of Personnel May 10, 1989 Mike Price, President United Professional Fire Fighters of Contra Costa County, IAFF, Local #1230 112 Blue Ridge Drive Martinez CA 94553 Dear Mr. Price: This will confirm an agreement reached between the East Diablo Fire Protection District and your union with respect to salary and benefit increases for the Captain classification for the period January 1 , 1989 through December 31 , 1992. The parties have agreed as follows: 1 . Effective January 1 , 1989 the East Diablo Fire Protection District (EBFPD) Captain classification shall receive a general wage increase of forty-three (43) levels on the Contra Costa County Salary Schedule which is equal approximately to a percentage increase of 4.4%. 2. Effective January 1 , 1990, January 1 , 1991 , and January 1 , 1992, the EDFPD Captain classification shall receive a general wage increase as cited in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Districts and United Professional Fire Fighters, I.A.F.F. , Local #1230. 3 Effective January 1 , 1990, January 1 , 1991 , and January 1 , 1992, the EDFPD Captain classificationshall receive an Equity wage increase of twenty (20) levels on the Contra Costa County Salary Schedule (which is equal approxima- tely to a percentage increase of 2%) , in addition to the increases provided for in (2. ) hereinabove. 4. Effective January 1 ,: 1990 and January 1 , 1991 , the EDFPD Captain classifica- tion shall receive an additional Equity wage increase of forty-nine (49) levels on the Contra Costa County Salary Schedule (which is equal approxima- tely to a percentage increase of 5%) , in addition to the increases provided for in (2. ) and (3. ) hereinabove. Effective January 1 , 1992 the EDFPD Captain classification shall receive an additional Equity wage increase in. such an amount as to bring the EDFPD Captain classification monthly salary equal to the monthly salary of the Fire Captain classification in the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Districts, in addition to the increases pro- vided for in (2. ) and (3. ) hereinabove. 5. Effective February 1 , .1989 the EDFPD -Captain classification shall receive - in lieu of any "Pay for Work in -Higher Classification", an Acting Pay Differential of two percent (2%) of base pay. The total cost, District share, and the employee- share of providing medical , dental and life insurance coverage for the EDFPD Captain classification shall be as provided in accordance with the provisions of Section 13.2 Health Plan Options and Rates, and Section 13.3 Increased Costs, of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Districts and United Professional Fire Fighters-, I.A.F.F., Local #1230 operative as of January 1 , 1989; provided, however, that any changes in the Health Plan Options applicable to employees covered by said Memorandum of Understanding shall be applicable in the identical manner and effective on the same date of the EDFPD Captain classification. 7. Effective January 1 , 1989 the monthly uniform allowance for the EDFPD Captain classification shall be raised to Forty Dollars ($40.00) per month. 8. Effective January 1 , 1989 the First Responder Basic Life Support Differential for the EDFPD Captain classification is Seventy Dollars ($70.00) . 9. A Memorandum of Understanding between the EDFPD and the United Professional Fire Fighters, I.A.F.F., Local #1230, incorporating the foregoing and all other matters relating other terms and conditions of employment applicable to the EDFPD Captain classification shall be jointly prepared by the District and the Union during the twelve (12) month period following execu- tion of this letter of understanding. If the foregoing conforms with your understanding, please indicate your approval and acceptance in the space provided below.
