TRANSPORTATION) SERVICES
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept County Administrator' s report on expenditures for
paratransit (non-emergency transportation) services.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
On April 4, 1989, Supervisor Schroder requested that the County
Administrator report on the county funds used for paratransit
services.
There are three major program areas in the Health Services
Department which require non-emergency transportation: special
patient needs, fixed route, and specific programs, e.g. ,
Congregate Meals for Seniors program. Expenditures for patient
non-emergency transportation occur when authorized staff
determine that a patient needs transportation, but lacks the
resources . Fixed route provides transportation between the
clinics and Merrithew Memorial Hospital.
Expenditures for fiscal year 1988/89 for these county funded
programs are:
♦ Patient non-emergency transportation $123 ,008
♦ Fixed route transportation 61,790
♦ Transportation of Seniors to Congregate
Meals $ 29 , 000
/ TOTAL FY 1988/89 $213,798
