Proctor SUBJECT: for Bay Area Trauma Registry Services SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I . RECOMMENDED ACTION : Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute on behalf of the County , Contract 4423-089-5 with Susan M. Proctor in the amount of $43 , 100 for the period June 25 , 1989 - June 24 , 1990 for technical assistance with regard to the Bay Area Trauma Registry. II . FINANCIAL ]IMPACT : This contract has been funded by the State under a contract with the State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority, and user fees from the participating counties . The State is in the process of developing a new contract to continue funding through June 24 , 1990 . Funds for this contract are !budgeted in the Department ' s FY 1989-90 budget . No County funding is required . s The payment limit of the prior contract for the Contractor ' s services for the period June 25 , 1988 through June 24 , 1989 was $41 , 100 . III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND : On October 1 , 1985 , the Board approved State Contract 4429-321 (Standard Agreement EMS-640 ) with the State Emergency Medical Services Authority for establishment of a Regional Trauma Registry for Bay Area Counties , with Contra Costa as the host County. On September 20 , 1.988 , the Board approved Contract 4129-321-4 with the State in the amount of $84 , 200 for con- .tinuation of State funding for the Bay Area Trauma Registry Project for the period from June 25 , 1988 through June 24 , 1989 . A.ttached is a copy of a letter the Department recently received indicating that the State Emergency Medical Services Authority intends to grant $82, 200 of funding for the Bay Area Trauma Registry effective June 25 , 1989 through June 24 , 1990. This contract is being developed by the State and will be submitted to the Board for approval as soon as it is received. The increase in the amount of this Contract reflects compensation commensurate with additional responsibilities and expenses necessary to continue activities for the Bay Area Trauma Registry. The project is expanding to new sites , and in addition to pro- viding ongoing guidance and technical support to the present Trauma Registry participants , the Contractor will be travelling to the new sites , selected by the State EMS Authority, to pro- vide initial training, technical assistance , and follow-up support services to the new trauma centers and the corresponding local EMS agencies . The Department is requesting approval of Contract 423-089-5 which will continue Ms . Proctor ' s contract services without interruption through June 24 , 1990
