Contractors to provide a 10 percent match. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: On March 6 , 1989 , the Family and Children' s Trust (FACT) Committee unanimously voted to renew current AB 1733 contracts with community agencies from July 1, 1989, to June 30, 1990. The renewals are to continue the level of service and the proportionate amount of AB 1733 funds into FY 89-90 as existed in FY 88-89. FACT' s recommendation ensures the continuation of services needed by families and children. It is anticipated that a new needs assessment will be conducted in Fall, 1989 , and that an RFP process for AB 1733 funds will take place in Spring, 1990. Changes in staff support to FACT, as well as committee vacancies, preclude conducting the new needs assessment and the RFP process any earlier. CONSEQUENCES/IMPACT: Needed services for families and children will be discontinued. AB 1733 funds will be available but inaccessible to community agencies for family and children' s services. Failure to authorize use of the funds could be considered a violation of AB 1733 ' s requirement to maintain needed levels of services.
