Endorse legislation which will clarify that members of housing authorities can serve on county planning commissions. 2. Remove this item as a Committee referral . BACKGROUND: The Board asked our Committee to consider the possibility of designating one seat on the County Planning Commission for a representative from the Advisory Housing Commission. County Counsel has advised us that even though the Advisory Housing Commission is advisory in nature, the argument could be made that serving on that Commission and the County Planning Commission could be interpreted as incompatible offices since planning commissions can review plans made by the housing authority. County Counsel , therefore, recommends that we seek legislation which would amend Health and Safety Code Section 34326 to specifically authorize housing commissioners to serve on county planning commissions. We endorse such legislation which would then give the Board of Supervisors the opportunity to decide whether or not we wish to do so.
