MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: SEPTEMBER 27, 1988 SUBJECT: APPROVE FIRST AMENDMENT TO LICENSE FOR THE SAN RAMON VALLEY (IRON HORSE) TRAIL Specific Request(s) or Recommendations) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDATION Approve the First Amendment to the License with East Bay Regional Park District extending the limits of the San Ramon Valley (Iron Horse) Trail. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND On October 14, 1986, the County entered into a License with East Bay Regional Park District allowing the District to establish and maintain a riding and hiking trail within the former Southern Pacific Railroad right of way between Stone Valley Road in Alamo and Linda Mesa Avenue in Danville. The License allows extension of the original limits as additional trail facilities are completed. With completion of the Central Sanitary District pipeline project, a trail between Rudgear Road and San Ramon Creek has been constructed. Construction of the trail is consistent with existing County policy providing for public use of the right of way and does not conflict with the development of a future transit corridor in the right of way.
