Those in attendance discussed various issues including
coordination of projects between the I-80 Committee and the I-680/24
Task Force, sources of funding, publicity efforts, Transportation
Systems Management, and a TSM Coordinator.
Supervisor Powers suggested that perhaps staff could draft a
letter to Caltrans containing recommendations suggested today by those
present which could be signed by both committees.
Supervisor McPeak commented on the need to reduce single occupant
vehicle usage in the region not just one corridor or the other, and to
do signs and billboards on the other side of the bridge also.
Supervisor McPeak questioned what the status of Contra Costa
County' s TSM Coordinator was, and asked that the County TSM
Coordinator review plans submitted by employers and the RIDES Program
and the person designated by Caltrans.
Supervisor Schroder commented that now is the time to alert the
public as to what is coming and guide them as to changes that they are
going to have to make during the construction period and not wait
until construction begins, and to prepare the public through major
public relations program for what is going to take place.
Supervisor Powers commented that priority should be given to a
public relations contract and the coordination element. He suggested
that members of both committees meet from time to time.
