3 . 2 Resolution No. 88-105 adopted by the San Pablo City
Council, recommending the inclusion of the East Contra
Costa (Garaventa) and Kirker. Pass landfills in the
Contra Costa County Solid Waste' Management Plan.

3. 3 Letter dated August 23 , 1988 from Assemblyman Tom Bates,
State Capitol, P.O Box 942849, Sacramento 94249,
advising that SB 1794, which would have extended
services of the In-Home Supportive Services. Program,
never reached the Assembly for consideration and
therefore is considered technically "dead" for the
1987-1988 legislative session.

3. 5 Letter dated August 23, 1988 from Peter A. Magowan,
Chairman of the Board, Safeway Stores, Incorporated, 4th
and Jackson Streets, Oakland 94660, commenting on the
issue of rebuilding the Richmond warehouse.

3 . 6 Letter dated August 26, 1988 from Thomas Sinclair, City
Manager, City of Orinda, 26 Orinda Way, Orinda 94563 ,
advising that the City strongly supports the
installation of gates on the abandoned portion of E1

SUBJECT: Proposition 97, Cal-OSHA
The Board received a letter dated August 25, 1988 from
Steven A. Roberti, Executive Secretary, Central. Labor Council, P.O.
Box 389, Martinez 94553 , requesting that the Board endorse
Proposition 97 on the November ballot, which would restore
Cal-OSHA.
Henry Clarke, Contra Costa Employees Local 1, commented
on the protection Cal-OSHA provided not only to the workers but to
the employers as well, and recommended that the Board endorse
Proposition 97 .
Steven Roberti, Central Labor Council, expressed
appreciation for the Board' s endorsement of the signature drive to
place Proposition 97 on .the ballot, and urged that the Board
endorse the Proposition.
Board members being in agreement, IT IS ORDERED that
Proposition 97 to restore Cal-OSHA is ENDORSED.
