RYDINGSWORD, DIRECTOR Contra Social Service Department Costa DATE: July 20 , 198$ County SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF REVISED PAYMENT LIMIT FOR REFUGEE SERVICES CONTRACT #20-654-2 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION Approve and authorize the Social Service Department Director to sign Contract #20-654-2 with Lao Family Community, Inc. , with an increased payment limit of $40,690 for the period July 1, 1988 through June 30, 1989 for the provision of Refugee Social Adjustment/Health Accessing services. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT Funding for the above contract is from the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement--Targeted Assistance Program (TAP) , and Mutual Assistance Association Grant (MAAG) funds. No County funds are involved. III. BACKGROUND On June 28, 1988, the Board approved three refugee services contracts: #20-655 , County Superintendent of Schools; and, #20-654-2 and #20-713 , both Lao Family Community, Inc. The Social Service Department' s Refugee Program Specialist subsequently has determined that the latter two contracts, not yet executed, should be merged because they are for the same service (albeit from separate funding sources) , and can be administered and audited more effectively as one contract. The new contract will be numbered as above ( #20-654-2) , and will include $20,606 TAP funds, $12,725 MAAG funds, and supplementary' TAP funds of $7,359.
