TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
FROM: J . MICHAEL WALFORD , PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
DATE: August 2 , 1988
SUBJECT: Agreement With City of Martinez
0672=6U2125
Specific Request s or Recommendation ( s ) & Background &
Justification
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE Chair to sign an agreement with the City of
Martinez for a chip seal on Vine Hill Way.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The chip seal will be funded from a deposit made by a developer
in the City of Martinez . There will be no cost to the County.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
City of Martinez Subdivision 6758 executed a Road Improvement
Agreement for work needed on Vine Hill Way ( then a County
maintained road ) . The agreement required the developer to give
the County a deposit for a double chip seal on Vine Hill Way.
Subsequent to the Road Improvement Agreement and deposit , Vine
Hill Way was annexed to the city. Therefore , an agreement was
necessary for the County to apply the double chip to the city
street .

CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the agreement is not approved the deposit would have to be
returned to City of Martinez for them to complete the work
themselves . They do not have plans for a double chip seal
program this year , therefore the project would be delayed for a
year . This could cause the cost to increase above the deposit
that was taken .
