Phoenix Programs , Inc .
Novation Contract #24-751-46
Board Order Page 2
Beginning July 1 , 1988 , Phoenix Programs , Inc. and County Mental
Health Services have collaboratively undertaken to reallocate
funding and consolidate certain services in order to expand the
range and variety of day services programming available for
seriously mentally disordered adults . Where there previously
have been two Medi-Cal day treatment programs in Concord
(Concord Day Treatment Program and Mt . Diablo Transitional
Services ) , these progams are being consolidated: into one larger
program, on the site of Concord Day Treatment Program, and the
Mt . Diablo Transitional Services Day Treatment `Program will be
terminated effective June 30 , 1988 . Savings from this con-
solidation are being utilized to provide two "'new programs , a
vocational services program (Phoenix Enterprises) , and a new day
socialization program ( co-located with the Concord Day Treatment
Program) . Thus , with no increase in overall funding , Phoenix
Programs , Inc . will provide three day services programs meeting
a variety of client needs , rather than the previous two programs
that were both of the same service type . Further , the three new
programs will provide services to a total of 81 adults on an
average day. This represents services to an additional 13
clients . Previous day treatment services had provided services
to 46 clients per day, and Phoenix Enterprises , the vocational
program, served 22 .
Planning for these programmatic changes has beenreviewed exten-
sively by the County Mentalr, Health Advisory Board , and by its
Program Review Committee .
Novation Contract #24-751-46 replaces the six-month automatic
extension under the prior FY 1987-88 Contract #24-751-44 and its
amendment , Contract Amendment Agreement #24-751-45 .
