Hoenig, Chief, North Coast California Section, Toxic Substances Control Division, State Department of Health Services, 2151 Berkeley Way, Annex 7, Berkeley 94704, relative to closure plan for the IT Corporation hazardous waste incinerator facility in the Martinez area. The DHS also requests public comment on the proposed Negative Declaration for the project. The .. .facility is located at the end of Waterbird Way in Martinez, - California. The closest residences are located 1/4 mile West of the facility in Martinez. The. unit was used to. incinerate .liquid hazardous waste 'generated from the Vine Hill Tank Treatment operation and liquid hazardous waste fuels. The CLOSURE PLAN. identifies specific steps which will be followed to permanently close the unit to .RCRA hazardous waste. This Plan is required by Title 22 , California Code of Regulations, Section 67212 and by the regulations adopted pursuant to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, 42 USC Sections 6901 et seq. , and 40 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 265, Subpart O. The incinerator will remain in operation as an emission control device"for gases produced from hazardous waste tank treatment operations. After closure, the facility will be required to meet all applicable.
