MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER y DATE: JULY 19, 1988 SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE EXPENDITURE TO CONNECT THREE RESIDENCES TO OAKLEY WATER DISTRICT SYSTEM, DRAINAGE AREA 29H, OAKLEY PROJECT NO. 7569-6D8438 Specific Requests) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDATION AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer to arrange for the connecting of three residences to the Oakley Water District system. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT The estimated cost of $25, 000 will be funded by drainage fees collected in Drainage Area 29H. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION✓BACKGROUND On February 23 , 1988, the Board of Supervisors amended the drainage plan for Drainage Area 29H. At the hearing, Mr. R. Griffin expressed his concern regarding possible contamination of his well, his only source of potable water; due to ground water seepage from the proposed detention basin adjacent to his property. The District agrees that the possibility of well contamination exists. The cost to complete a detail study of the problem will exceed the cost of connecting the potentially affected properties to the Oakley water system. Consequently, it is recommended that these residences be connected to the Oakley water system in lieu of the study and that the connection occur prior to the drainage entering the new detention basin.
