THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of : )
Commending Thomas G. Dunne ) RESOLUTION NO. 87/555
upon his Retirement. )
WHEREAS Thomas G. Dunne is retiring from his position as
City Manager of the City of Walnut Creek following 41 years of
public service; and
WHEREAS upon moving to California from his native Detroit,
Michigan, Tom began a career in public administration in 1946 as
a civil engineer draftsman for the City of Salinas, rising
through several positions to become City Manager in 1957; and
WHEREAS Tom Dunne came to Contra Costa County 'in 1972 as
Walnut Creek City Manager, a position he has held for 15 years;
years marked by dedication, innovation and professionalism; and
WHEREAS Mr. Dunne demonstrated his leadership through his
service as President, City Manager Department, League of
California Cities, and as a member of the Board of Directors of
the League; President, International City Management Association;
Chairman, Board of Trustees, ICMA Retirement Corporation; and
member, John F. Kennedy and California State University, Hayward
Campus, Public Administration Advisory Boards; and
WHEREAS he and his wife, Betty, a native Californian, have
chosen to spend their retirement years in this County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA THAT Thomas G. Dunne is
COMMENDED upon his retirement for his exemplary record of public
service to the citizens of this County.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
this 22nd day of September, 1987 .
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a Resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of
Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
