of James A. Rydingsword ) 87/525
as County Welfare Director ) RESOLUTION N0.
Whereas the Board has passed Ordinance No. 87/17 exempting the County Welfare Director
from the merit system on March 17, 1987 effective April 16, 1987 ; and
Whereas the Board has conducted an executive search to find the best qualified County
Welfare Director, and County Administrator has made his recommendation on an
appointment;
Be it hereby RESOLVED that the classification of County Welfare Director-Exempt (XAA2)
is established and allocated to the exempt salary schedule at pay series and level
X7-2492 ($6667/month) effective September 1, 1987.
Be it further RESOLVED that the classified position of County Welfare Director (XAAA)
position #53-01111 is cancelled and a position of County Welfare Director-Exempt (XAA2)
is added, effective September 1, 1987 .
Be it further RESOLVED that James A. Rydingsword is hereby appointed to the exempt
position of County Welfare Director effective September 14, 1987.
Be it additionally RESOLVED that the Salary Regulations, Resolution No. 83/1 is amended,
and the management benefit resolutions 81/1007, 81/1112 and 84/424, as amended, are
hereby further amended to provide the following additional benefits to Mr. Rydingsword:
1. A credit, upon appointment, of 120 hours' vacation time with a 240 hour
maximum. Vacation accruals will be at the rate of ten hours per month
until completion of ten full years service; thereafter, vacation accrues
according to the management pattern specified in Section 2a of Resolution
No. 84/424.
2. A credit, upon appointment, of 80 hours' sick leave. Thereafter, sick
leave accruals will 'be at the rate of eight hours per month.
3. Payment for reimbursements of household moving expenses from Santa Barbara,
California to. Contra Costa County for the Rydingsword family for an amount
subject- to the approval by the County Administrator upon submission of a
demand' (form D-15 accompanied by receipts) to the Auditor-Controller.
4. Administrative Leave for the calendar year 1987 of 40 hours, credited upon
appointment.
Other management benefits currently included in Resolutions No. 81/107, 81/1112 and
84/424, and, as may be amended by Resolution in the future, are hereby made applicable
to the exempt County Welfare Director classification.
