HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08041987 - S.9 1 THE BOARD OF SUrERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on August 4, 1987 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, Torlakson, McPeak NOES:; None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Advisory November Ballot Measures Regarding Stable Funding for Local Government This Board is concerned about the future adequate funding of counties , schools , cities and special districts and whether the current California state budget surplus should be allocated to continue' essential local services . For this reason the views of this . County's voters should be obtained on disposition of the state surplus and on secure sources of future funding of essential local services. Now, therefore, this Board hereby determines, orders and directs : 1. The Three( 3 ) Advisory Vote measures set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto be presented to the voters in this County for their approval of denial on the November 3 , 1987 election ballot . 2 . The County Clerk (Elections Clerk) is directed to take all steps necessary to place the attached advisory vote measures on the November 3, 1987 ballot for the County and this election be conducted with any other elections scheduled for that area on November 3, 1987. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors onthe date shown. Should the California state budget revenue surplus be allocated to fund essential local services such as provided by schools, counties and cities instead of being used for tax rebate? 2 . Should the California Constitution be amended to strengthen legal requirements that the State fully fund all programs it imposes upon local government? 3 . Should a California law be enacted to require that a specified portion of the existing taxes you now pay to the State hereafter be dedicated to counties, schools, cities and special districts to provide a stable source of funding for local services?
