CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of the )
1987 County Charity Drive ) RESOLUTION NO. 87/ 472
WHEREAS the United Way of the Bay Area, California Combined
Health Agencies and the Environmental Federation of California
will soon begin their 1987 fund raising campaigns; and
WHEREAS these organizations provide vitally needed community
services designed to ease human suffering, improve personal
health and protect our environment; and
WHEREAS contributions to these organizations will provide for
continued efforts to prevent cancer, heart disease, sickle cell
disease, and communicable diseases; fight against child abuse,
juvenile delinquency and homelessness; and, preserve our
environment and prevent air and water pollution; and
WHEREAS this Board endorses a single fund raising drive among
County employees to allow them the opportunity to donate to these
charitable organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that Patrick R.
Murphy, County Public Defender, is designated as Chairman, and
John H. deFremery, County Agricultural Commissioner, as
Co-Chairman, for the 1987 Charity Drive campaign among County
employees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Sunne Wright McPeak, Chair, Board of
Supervisors, is designated to serve as Honorary Chairperson for
the campaign; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all County employees are urged to
donate, within their means, to the County Charity Drive to help
support the worthwhile programs administered by the participating
organizations.
