SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement 429-285-5 with the
City of San Pablo for congregate meal services for the Senior
Nutrition Program
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the
County, Contract Amendment Agreement 429-285-5 with the City of
San Pablo , effective September 1 , 19875, to amend Contract
#29-285-4 (effective July 1 , 1987 - June 30, 1988) for the pro-
vision of congregate meal services for the Senior Nutrition
Program.
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT :
The contractor will pay County the net project income received
from participants , after adjustment for allowable costs . This
amendment is expected to result in net income to the County of
$16, 784 for FY 1987-88 . Shifting of responsibility for
operating West County nutrition sites has resulted in consider-
able savings for the Nutrition Program. Under this amendment ,
since the congregate meal site is in a City of San Pablo faci-
lity, the City will be responsible for insurance costs . In
addition , functions previously handled by private contractors ,
at program expense , will be handled by existing City staff at no
cost to the Program. This reorganization of contract respon-
sibility for nutrition sites will result in at least $10, 000 of
administrative savings for the Nutrition Program.
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND :
On July 14, 1987 the Board approved Contract 429-285-4 with the
City of San Pablo for congregate meal services for the Senior
Nutrition Program. The purpose of Contract Amendment Agreement
#29-285-5 is to include an additional congregate meal site and
increase the average number of meals served per day under this
contract from 25 to 115 .
This document has been approved by the Department ' s Contracts
and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines
approved by the Board' s Order of December 1 , 1981 (Guidelines
for contract preparation and processing , Health Services
Department ) .
