The Board, having received a September 9, 1986 , letter from William F . Maxfield, Fire Chief, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, requesting that the Board observe the nationally-recognized annual Fire Prevention Week, for which the theme this year is "Learn .Not to Burn - It Really Works!" by proclaiming the week of October 5 through October 11 , 1986 , as "Fire Prevention Week" in Contra Costa County; IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the request of Fire Chief William F . In connection therewith, Fire Chief William F. Maxfield, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, gave a brief presen- tation on fire safety, and requested that the Board give consideration to adopting ordinances requiring the use of fire retardant roofing material as well as sprinkler systems in residential buildings in the unincorporated area of the: County. Victor J. Westman, County Counsel, noted that a draft ordinance had been prepared regulating the type of roofing materials which could be used on homes in the unincorporated area of the County. Board members having; discussed the matter, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the County Administrator and Building Inspector are REQUESTED to report to the Board on the status of the proposed ordinance related to fire retardant roofing materials on residential buildings.
