NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Resolution 86/558 SUBJECT: PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 16, 1986 AS RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM RECOGNITION DAY IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, which involves older Americans above the age of 60 in community service, celebrates its 15th national .anniversary during 1986; and WHEREAS, _more than 600 of these active, energetic seniors volunteer more than 200,000 hours each year to RSVP projects in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, RSVP Volunteers contribute to the well-being of their communities by applying their skills and experience to in-home care, support for young people in need, adult literacy and crime prevention, among other assignments; and WHEREAS,,_ RSVP men and women, sponsored by the Contra Costa County Social Service Department, continue to realize self-fulfillment by helping others; and WHEREAS, RSVP Volunteers will remain an important resource to Contra Costa County in meeting the ever increasing needs of our citizens of all ages ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that September 16, 1986 is PROCLAIMED as RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM RECOGNITION DAY in Contra Costa County.
