SUBJECT: ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF THE STATUS REPORT ON THE MEETINGS v
BETWEEN SHELL OIL AND KEY GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Acknowledge receipt of the attached status report on the meetings held
between Shell Oil and key government agencies, and authorize the Director,
Office of Emergency Services, to continue to meet with Shell Oil and
government agencies to mitigate the concerns of the Martinez residents
near the Shell. Refinery.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
BACKGROUND
Following the occurrence of three incidents at the Shell Oil. Refinery in
June, 1986, community concern prompted Supervisor Nancy Fanden to re4uest
that the Office of Emergency Services conduct a round-table meeting
between Shell Oil Refinery, the County and other government agencies on
what steps both Shell Oil and the government agencies should take to
correct any negative impact the incidents had on the community.
The attached status report is a summary of that meeting and further
activities conducted to date.
