DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a project class wherein incumbents receive job training in building inspection plan checking work necessary for promotion to Plan Checker Trainee. TYPICAL TASKS: Learns to assist the public in applying for building, electrical , plumbing and mechanical permits; reviews and checks plans for selected single family construction; collects money for fees and writes receipts in accordance with departmental procedures and policies; insures all Title -24 C.A.C. energy requirements are reflected in plans; utilizes computer to check notations of. special conditions on properties; may accompany and assist Building Inspectors in the inspection of residential structures in various stages of construction and alteration. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Referral : Through the Neighborhood House of North Richmond. License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide suitable transportation as approved by the appointing authority may be required for some positions in this class- ification. Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to perform simple mathematical computations; ability to understand two dimensional representations of three dimensional objects; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to write neatly and legibly; ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations; ability to establish and maintain good public relations; ability to maintain simple files.
