DEPUTY t Board of Supervisors August 11, 1986 page -2- For the 1986-87 county fiscal year, the Sheriff' s Department is requesting that funds be provided by the Housing Authority to continue this special drug enforcement program and that a video purchase be authorized at a cost not to exceed $4,000, and at its Regular Meeting on Monday, August 18, 1986 the Advisory Housing Commission voted to recommend provision of $15,000 in Housing Authority funds to the Sheriff' s Department for continuation of the special drug enforcement program and to recommend purchase of video equipment by the Sheriff's Department at a cost not to exceed $4,000 from the $15,000 provided. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners fail to respond positively to this request, the amount of drug-related criminal activity in housing developments located in the unincorporated areas of the county serviced by the Sheriff' s Department would increase sharply. Additionally, the Board of Commissioners would be acting in a manner contrary to its position to provide safe housing for low-income families in Contra Costa County.
