RESOLUTION NO. 86/511
BOMANI PARKER )
WHEREAS, Bomani Parker began his boxing career at the West
Oakland Boys Club at the age of 10 and moved on to the Vallejo Boxing
Club, "Little- C" Boxing Club in Concord and then to the Richmond Police
Activities League (PAL) program; and
WHEREAS, Bomani 's titles include the 1984 Amateur Boxing
Federation Junior National Championship, 1985 Amateur Boxing Federation
Championship, and the 1986 Golden Gloves Championship at 165 pounds
(the first National Golden Gloves champion from the State of California
in the past twenty years) ; and
WHEREAS, from July 10, 1986 to July 19, 1986 , Bomani repre-
sented the United States at the Goodwill Games in Moscow where he
reached the finals of the 165 pound division but lost a close decision
(3-2) to Soviet Boxer Ruslan Taramov; and
WHEREAS, Bomani is scheduled to represent the United States
during the month of September 1986 in competition in Sweden and
Finland;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County that Bomani Parker be commended on the occasion of
a reception held in his honor at the Richmond Auditorium on August 28,
1986 for his excellent performances in the sport of boxing; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County wishes much good luck and good fortune to Bomani
Parker as he continues his amateur competition hopefully representing
the United States in the 1988 Olympics and then turning professional.
PASSED by the Board of Supervisors on August 26, 1986 by
unanimous vote of the Board members present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct

on the date aforesaid.
