HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08191986 - X.25 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: supervisor Nancy Fanden Contra DATE: August 19, 1986 Costa County SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR REPORT ON TRACES OF HEAVY METALS FOUND IN DUST BLOWING FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMEMATION: That Dan Bergman, Health Services Department, prepare a report as soon as possible, on whether or not dust blowing from a Hilltop construction site onto neighboring homes, poses a potential health hazard to the local residents. .BACKGROUND: Small amounts of chromium, lead, nickel, zinc, copper and cadmium have been detected by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District in dust blowing from a construction site in a windswept hill above a residential neighborhood. The findings, according to BAAQMD, are to be turned over to the state and county departments of health for further testing. The residents in Tara Hills, have complained about trouble breathing and dust in their homes. Their fear is that the toxic materials mixed in the dust may be harmful to their health.
