1. Appoint the following persons to serve on the Public and Environmental
Health Advisory Board:

2. Invite the County Grand Jury to have a member attend meetings of the
Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND:
On April 28, 1986, the Board approved in concept the establishment of a
Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board and requested the Health.
Services Director to undertake a recruiting process and return to the
Internal Operations Committee with his recommendations for membership on
this new advisory board. The Board adopted the recommendations of the
Health Services Director that the Public and Environmental Health Advisory

Board consist of twelve members, nine of whom would represent the cate-
gories listed above, with the remaining three members to be appointed from
the membership of the Hazardous Materials Commission. The Hazardous
Materials Commission has not yet been appointed by the Board. When the
Commission is appointed, the three members of that Commission appointed to
serve on the Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board could represent
industry, labor, and environmental organizations.
In order that the Grand Jury is kept abreast of the significant matters to
be considered by the Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board, our
Committee believes it appropriate for the Grand Jury to be invited to have
one its members attend meetings of the advisory board.
