SUBJECT: CONTRACT FOR OUT-OF-STATE PARKING CITATIONS
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
Recommendation
Approve contract with DATACOM SYSTEMS CORPORATION for the collection
of out-of-state parking citations for the -Walnut Creek-Danville
Municipal Court for the period beginning 1/1/86 , continuing year to
year unless sooner terminated by either party upon .thirty (30) days
prior written notice to the other party, after ninety (90) days
from it ' s effective date, (no county dollars are involved) and
authorize the Chair to execute contract on behalf of the county.
Background
Generally, out-of-state parking citations are not pursued for payment
because of great difficulties involved in collection.— The proposed
contract renews an agreement with DATACOM . SYSTEMS CORPORATION at the
request of the City of Walnut Creek, in which the contractor will
attempt to collect such citations on a. reimbursement basis . The
contract provides for DATACOM to receive 40% of all revenues with
the remaining 60% to be split equally between the County and the
City of Walnut Creek. No County funds would be involved in this
contract . It is not anticipated that this contract will yield much
. revenue.
