SUBJECT: Amendments to the Police Services Contract with City of San Ramon
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND'AND JUSTIFICATION
Recommended Action
Approve and authorize the chairperson to execute amendments to the Police Services
Contract between the City of San Ramon and Contra Costa County effective July 1, 1985.
Financial Impact
There is no detrimental financial impact to the county in executing the contract
amendments. All services provided under the terms of the contract are paid by the
City of San Ramon to the county. The amendments to the contract define an increased
level of service the Sheriff has agreed to supply to the City of San Ramon for
which the City of San Ramon has agreed to pay the county the actual cost for said
increased services.
Reasons for Recommendation
The City of San Ramon wishes to increase its police services to maintain an adequate
level of law enforcement programs. The Sheriff's Department is committed to providing
San Ramon all personnel , materials and supplies, equipment, and support services
necessary for San Ramon's law enforcement programs.
Background
San Ramon has contracted with Contra Costa County for police services since July 1, 1984.
The contract specified the county would provide, among other personnel and services,
three Sergeants to perform supervisory and administrative duties and ten Deputy Sheriffs
to perform patrol , crime prevention, traffic safety, investigation, and community
relations duties as assigned. The San Ramon City Council has approved the addition
of one .Sergeant and one Deputy Sheriff to its Police Department effective July 1, 1985.
All other terms, obligations, general and special conditions of the Police Services
Contract with San Ramor, -remain. intact.
Consequences of Negative Action
Failureto approve the contract amendments will result in the Sheriff being unable to
supply the level of police services the City of San Ramon has requested and could
jeopardize continuation of the police services contract between San Ramon and the c

Sheriff's Lieutenant as Police Manager and thirteen Deputy Sheriffs. The Danville City
Council has approved increases in personnel effective July 1; 1985, as. follows :
A Sheriff' s Captain as Police Manager and one additional Deputy Sheriff.
All other terms, obligations, general and special conditions of the Police Services
Contract with Danville remain. intact.
Consequences of Negative Action
