Kopp's Birthday) RESOLUTION NO. 85/461 WHEREAS, Mr. Quentin L. Kopp, a member of the Board of Supervisors, City and County of San Francisco, California, was born in New York City on August 11th and which . year was not readily available from the New. York Times; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kopp received his degree from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, (a feat to which he often refers) in 1949 at. age 21 and subsequently grad- uated. from Harvard Law School in 1952; and WHEREAS, he has been a resident of San Francisco for 30 exciting years where he has developed a ;thriving law practice as .well as a devoted audience for his weekly radio programs;. and WHEREAS, Quentin was elected as Supervisor in November 1971 during which tenure he has served as President of the Board in the years of 1976-77 .and 1982-83, as President of. the County Supervisors Association of California, as Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission as well as membership on the Association of Bay Area Government and the Golden Gate Bridge District to name a few; and WHEREAS, Supervisor Kopp served as Chairman of the 1982-85 Super Bowl Task Force exemplifying his outstanding ability in leadership by successfully arranging for the Super Bowl to play in the Stanford Stadium which brought about great improvements to the Stadium and bringing great honor to the Bay Area by his own San Francisco Forty- Niners winning over the Miami Dolphins to .a .sold out home town crowd; and WHEREAS, he holds office and membership in many civic and philanthropic organiza- tions in the San Francisco -Bay Area, although he is not particularly sought out for his culinary expertise; and WHEREAS, as a demonstration of his faith, he served one month as a volunteer laborer with the Israeli .Army in the spring of 1985 returning to San Francisco in excellant .physical shape; and WHEREAS, all the above not withstanding, Quentin's greatest personal achievement is his three children, Shepard, Bradley and Jennifer; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESOLVED that August- 11, .1985 be declared "Supervisor Quentin L. Kopp Day"' in Contra Costa County to commemorate his 57th Birthday and wish him many more. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 6th day of August 1985.
