Negotiates and monitors Prevention contracts. Meets with contractors to provide integration of their contracted services (currently seven contracts/approximately $200,000.00) . Supervises staff and interns including hiring , performance evaluations , firing, etc. 10% Researches, develops , and writes grant applications ; reviews and approves applications written by subordinate staff. Oversees implementation by subordinates of funded grants . 10% Plans , develops, and coordinates regional prevention councils consisting of Health Services Department staff of all Divisions, representatives of other departments , community program representatives and citizens . Pro- vides leadership in linking regional prevention projects and in providing Health Services Department support. Maintains linkage with approximately 100 community and County programs and staff. 10% Coordinates County-wide Unemployment Resource Task Force consisting of seven County and State departments , community agencies, etc. Heads Health Services Department Unemployment effort, and represents County at Task Force meetings . Lead role in developing training materials on health impacts of Unemployment for County and community; oversees a contract developing materials (video) . 10% Directs Smoking Prevention effort; supervises Smoking Education Coordinator. Represents Health Services Department at major community and professional mtgs . re: this subject (e.g. Contra Costa Health Coalition, American Cancer Society, Executive Committee member, etc . ) Reviews Policy and Program plans . 10% Develops and coordinates regional infant mortality reduction and perinatal health efforts . Coordinates Subcommittees and , in general , the effective task allocations and accom- plishments in this area. 10% Develops and coordinates Abuse and Violence Prevention efforts. Coordi- nates a Network, oversees a community media watch campaign, provides support and consultation in areas such as conflict resolution, needs of foster parents , etc . Represents Department at meetings , speaks publicly, develops position papers , educational materials , etc . 10% Develops and/or coordinates , and/or represents the Department in other Prevention efforts ranging from-Employee Health to Seniors ; policy to reduce drinking; Vehicular Safety; Child Care; Environmental Health, Hypertension, etc .
