THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on September 25, 1984 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, Torlakson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Supervisor McPeak
SUBJECT: Proclaiming October 4, 1984 as National Voter Registration Day
WHEREAS, effective democracy requires the participation of all citizens
in the electoral process, and
WHEREAS, a substantial number of Americans are unregistered and
therefore unable to vote in national and local elections, and
WHEREAS registration of these citizens will require the concerted effort
of many individuals and groups , and
WHEREAS, many national and local organization, including National
Council of Senior Citizens, National Council of La Raza, Southern Christian
Leadership Conference, U.S. Students Association, National Board of YWCA,
League of Women Voters, National Council of Churches, Human SERVE, and many
others, have jointed in the effort to register all Americans,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisors joins in this effort and declares October 4th as National Voter
Registration Day.
I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of

Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
