HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07311984 - 1.9 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: Contra I Phil Batchelor Costa DATE: July 24, 1984 County SUBJECT: Employee Suggestion Awards i SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION Recommendation i That monetary awards of $25.00 and $50.00 be made to county employees Ben Dowdy and Paul Bayless respectively, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign Certificates of Commendation in recognition of the employees' contributions to energy and cost savings for the county. Background and Justification . The Board of Supervisors authorized the establishment of the Employee Suggestion Award program with monetary awards of $100.00, $50.00 and $25.00 to be issued quarterly for those suggestions selected by the Employee Suggestion Award Committee and the County Administrator. . The committee has .selected the above two suggestions for award. It is estimated that the ten-year savings from these suggestions will be approximately $7000.00. The suggestion submitted by Mr. Dowdy recommended separating his office lights from those on a locked storeroom, so the latter could be turned off when not in use. Mr. Bayless suggested putting the outside flood lights on the fleet garage and overhang on a photocell andconverting the incandescent lights to energy-efficient high-pressure sodium fixtures. This conversion will qualify the county for a $350.00 PG&E rebate, which has been calculated into the cost of implementation.
