RECOMMENDATION:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No 20391 to increase the hours of one Librarian (3AWA-represented)
position from 20/40 to 40/40 for Juvenile Hall.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost for this action is $36,731 with no net county cost. This cost is included in the Library 2007-
2008 budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Library is requesting to increase the hours of position #12930 to meet the level of service required to build
and maintain the library materials collection, manage the Technology for Teens program in the Juvenile Hall
and provide library services to the Juvenile Hall population. The classification of Librarian is responsible for
performing professional work in selecting, cataloging, and circulating books and materials in the County Library
system; to assist with reader guidance and filling out of reference requests.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the Department will not have adequate staffing to provide services at the Juvenile
Hall Library.
