BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department has requested a salary review of the Maintenance Worker I, Il, III; and IV classifications. Analyst
conducted an external salary survey,the results of which show the County's salary level for these classifications are below the market.
There are recruitment and retention issues for these classifications and the Public Works Department has additional difficulties in filling
supervisory level vacancies from incumbents in the Maintenance Worker class series.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the incumbents occupying the Maintenance Worker I, II, III, and IV classifications will not
appropriately compensated for duties performed and the Public Works Department will continue to experience recruiting and retention
issues.
