EAST BAY STAND DOWN
WHEREAS, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimate
that one-third of the homeless in our country are U.S. Military Veterans, and there are an estimated 6,000
homeless Veterans in the nine San Francisco Bay Area Counties;and
WHEREAS, the problems of these displaced Veterans are very difficult to address through common access points
and existing service delivery systems;and
WHEREAS, more than 15% of the population over the age of eighteen in Contra Costa and the other counties in
the Greater Bay Area are Veterans,and n',!;`,- �� ,�

WHEREAS, over 2,000 volunteers liavterb"come together-,to establi§h-Rast Bay Stand,Down to help the less fortunate
Veterans and their fqames who halve found themselves in need,nand x
